Boris Tellegen is one of the pioneers of the European graffiti movement from the moment he placed his alias DELTA for the first time on the wall, in 1984. Though claiming that you start out in graffiti by biting style from your betters, he has since grown to become one of the most innovative of his generation. Active in Amsterdam, but also having painted in New York towards the late eighties, he then took a break to study factorial industrial design at the technical university in Delft. Integrating his discoveries back into his pieces, he begun changing the face of lettering as we know it, literally applying 3-D, and taking new directions that many would subsequently try to follow. Graduating in 1994 as an engineer, he works since then as an artist and graphic illustrator. Even without using DELTA explicitly in his designs, experts recognise him immediately from his style; often copied, but never equalled.
